I have to start by saying I am truly humbled by this honor with the quality of people we have here at CFW.
I started my journey into CrossFit at the beginning of April of this year. I joined after it was suggested to me that I should look into CrossFit to take me to the next level in preparing for the police physical test, a goal that I have never been closer to.
As some of you know, I had the lap band surgery in April of 2010, kind of ironic how the month of April has become a month were major chapters in my life happen. At my worse point in time, I weighed over 420 lbs and becoming a police officer was all but a pipe dream. I started losing the weight, working out, and running with my close friends thereby getting closer and closer to my goal.
I had been at a plateau both mentally and physically when I joined CrossFit Wallingford. The amazing atmosphere here coupled with the other members, particularly coaches Rob and Ron, revitalized me and inspired me to keep pushing forward. The amount of love and support everyone shows to each other envelopes me each and every time I step through the door. Between working out here and with my friends, I was inspired to push myself to do a half-marathon, something that I know a few people doubted I could do. I must admit that even I had moments of doubt, but I just remembered that damn relax and breath mantra and keep moving, thanks Rob.
From the moment I started the on ramps, I knew this CrossFit “gym” was like nothing I had ever experienced in my life. With all the support and love I have been given here, I know there is nothing I can not accomplish now. I can not wait to keep pushing myself harder to bring out the best in me. I can’t imagine myself without CFW in my life and Rob and Ron pushing me to be the best that I can be.
Congrats to Thomas again and it is much deserved. Thomas comes in everyday ready to work and no one works harder. Thomas is always looking to improve and is never satisfied. Most importantly he is always there for his CFW family. Keep up the hard work Thomas…. We know you will.
