I am still in shock that I am CrossFitter of The Month.
I joined CFW back in May 2013. I was starting a new job and figured that would be a great time to start a new exercise routine. I remember just showing up to the on ramp class, which was already 1 week in, but Rob let me start then anyway. My squat was non existent and I have never been as sore as those first two weeks of on ramps but that is where my journey started.
I would like to say that from that moment on I was 100% in and always came to class but that isn’t reality. I started out coming to class regularly but then I allowed work and life to get in the way and there was a time when I didn’t come for a few months but every time I came back everyone was so welcoming. It wasn’t until 2016 that I decided this was the year I was going to make myself a priority and I went to the first WOD of 2016. I began attending classes on a regular basis (shout out to 630 pm) and not only did I start getting stronger but I was getting better range of motion. I forced myself to overcome some of my insecurities and started going to Team WOD, completed a session of Cardiofit and participated in my first competition.
I still have a lot of work to do. I am not a big fan of running, I tolerate burpees instead of hating them and let’s not even talk about lunges but CrossFit has helped boost my confidence and has made me a mentally stronger person not only in the gym but in my personal life as well. THANK YOU to all the coaches and members- your continuous support means more to me than words can ever convey. So proud to be a part of CrossFit Wallingford.
**We are so proud of you, Jen! Your journey has been an inspiration to watch and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish in 2017!**
